Terms Used In Kansas Statutes 12-1685

  • city: means a city located within Crawford county. See Kansas Statutes 12-16,116
  • Joint meeting: An occasion, often ceremonial, when the House and Senate each adopt a unanimous consent agreement
  • school district: means any school district located in whole or in part within a city of the third class located in two counties; and

    (b) "City" means any city of the third class located in two counties. See Kansas Statutes 12-1689

The petition provided for in Kan. Stat. Ann. § 12-1684 may be directed to the governing bodies of said city and school district jointly, and in such case it may be filed with the clerk of either the city or school district. Upon receipt of the petition, the clerk shall set a day not less than five (5) nor more than ten (10) days thereafter for the joint meeting of the two (2) governing bodies for the consideration of the petition and if the petition be found sufficient the proposition shall be submitted to the electors within the corporate limits of the city or school district, whichever has the greater population, the same to be submitted as provided by law for such city or school district. Notice of the receipt of the petition and the date and place of the joint meeting shall be given immediately by the clerk to the executive officer of the city and school district by registered mail.
