Terms Used In Kansas Statutes 65-1773

  • Cremation: means the mechanical and/or other dissolution process that reduces human remains to bone fragments. See Kansas Statutes 65-1760
  • Crematory: means a business premises that houses the cremation chamber and holding facility where dead human bodies are cremated. See Kansas Statutes 65-1760
  • State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories. See Kansas Statutes 77-201

(a) Any intent of the crematory to recycle metallic remnants, prosthetic implants or anything else remaining after cremation or removed prior to cremation requires consent from the legal next of kin of the deceased as defined in Kan. Stat. Ann. § 65-1734, and amendments thereto.

(b) Any such recycling must be in compliance with state and federal laws.

(c) This section shall take effect on and after July 1, 2011.
