Elevator contractors shall submit proof of insurance to the department for an insurance policy issued by an insurance company or other legal entity permitted to transact insurance business in Kentucky, providing:
(1) General liability coverage of at least one million dollars ($1,000,000) for injury or death of any number of persons in any one (1) occurrence;
(2) Coverage of at least five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) for property damage in any one (1) occurrence; and
(3) Statutory workers’ compensation insurance coverage.

116, sec. 13, has been changed in codification to the “department” of housing, buildings and construction to reflect the reorganization of certain parts of the Executive Branch, as set forth in Executive Order 2009-535 and confirmed by the General Assembly in 2010 Ky. Acts ch. 24. This change was made by the Reviser of Statutes pursuant to 2010 Ky. Acts ch. 24. sec. 1938.

- Company: may extend and be applied to any corporation, company, person, partnership, joint stock company, or association. See Kentucky Statutes 446.010
- Construction: means the erection, fabrication, reconstruction, substantial alteration or conversion of a building, or the installation of equipment therein, but shall not include the ordinary repair of a building or structure. See Kentucky Statutes 198B.010
- Department: means the Department of Housing, Buildings and Construction. See Kentucky Statutes 198B.010
(2) Coverage of at least five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) for property damage in any one (1) occurrence; and
(3) Statutory workers’ compensation insurance coverage.
