Terms Used In Louisiana Code of Civil Procedure 1436.1

  • Deposition: An oral statement made before an officer authorized by law to administer oaths. Such statements are often taken to examine potential witnesses, to obtain discovery, or to be used later in trial.

If agreed upon by every party to a suit or if ordered by the court, a deposition may be taken by telephone or other remote electronic means.
