Terms Used In Louisiana Revised Statutes 13:3206

  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • Executor: A male person named in a will to carry out the decedent
  • Partnership: A voluntary contract between two or more persons to pool some or all of their assets into a business, with the agreement that there will be a proportional sharing of profits and losses.

           As used in La. Rev. Stat. 13:3201 through 3207, “nonresident” includes an individual, his executor, administrator, or other legal representative, who at the time of the filing of the suit is not domiciled in this state, or a partnership, association, or any other legal or commercial entity, other than a corporation, not then domiciled in this state, or a corporation or limited liability company which is not organized under the laws of, and is not then licensed to do business in, this state.
