Terms Used In Louisiana Revised Statutes 11:1602
- Member: shall include any employee, as defined in Paragraph (10) of this Section, included in the membership of this system as provided in Part II of this Chapter. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 11:1581
- person: includes a body of persons, whether incorporated or not. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 1:10
- Prior service: shall mean service rendered prior to the date of the establishment of this retirement system for which credit is allowable as provided in La. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 11:1581
- Retirement: shall mean withdrawal from active service with a retirement allowance granted under the provisions of this Chapter. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 11:1581
- Retirement System: shall mean the District Attorneys' Retirement System as defined in La. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 11:1581
A person whose membership in this retirement system is contingent on his own election and who elects not to become a member, may thereafter but not subsequent to the attainment of age fifty-five apply for and be admitted to membership, but no such person shall receive prior service credit unless he becomes a member within the first year following the establishment of this retirement system.
