Terms Used In Louisiana Revised Statutes 22:256
- Commissioner: means the commissioner of insurance. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 22:242
- Health maintenance organization: means any corporation organized as either a business corporation or a nonprofit corporation and domiciled in this state which undertakes to provide or arrange for the provision of basic health care services to enrollees in return for a prepaid charge. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 22:242
A. The commissioner or a member of his staff may make an examination of the affairs of any health maintenance organization as often as it is reasonably necessary for the protection of the interest of the people of this state, but not less frequently than once every five years.
B. The commissioner or a member of his staff shall conduct all examinations in accordance with La. Rev. Stat. 22:1981 through 1995.
