Terms Used In Louisiana Revised Statutes 33:3499

  • Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.

All actions to enjoin or prevent any local improvement provided for in this Sub-part must be instituted in the court of competent jurisdiction prior to the signing of the contract.  After the signing of the contract all actions shall be prescribed.  These limitations shall not apply to actions instituted by the municipality.
