Terms Used In Louisiana Revised Statutes 9:4751

  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • Partnership: A voluntary contract between two or more persons to pool some or all of their assets into a business, with the agreement that there will be a proportional sharing of profits and losses.
  • Person: means any individual, partnership, association, corporation, government, political subdivision, or governmental agency. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 9:4751

           As used in this Part:

           (1) “Ambulance service” means any person who through the use of one or more ambulances and certified emergency medical technicians as defined in La. Rev. Stat. 40:1131, provides transportation of sick or injured persons as a part of a regular course of conduct or business.

           (2) “Health care provider” means a person, partnership, corporation, facility, or institution licensed by this state to provide health care or professional services as a physician, dentist, chiropractor, podiatrist, optometrist, pharmacist, dietician, physical therapist, occupational therapist, or psychologist.

           (3) “Hospital” means an institution licensed as such by the state of Louisiana.

           (4) “Person” means any individual, partnership, association, corporation, government, political subdivision, or governmental agency.
