Terms Used In Maine Revised Statutes Title 34-A Sec. 11253
- Department: means the Department of Corrections. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 34-A Sec. 1001
- Registrant: means a 10-year registrant or a lifetime registrant or, when appropriate, both a 10-year registrant and a lifetime registrant. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 34-A Sec. 11203
- Risk assessment instrument: means an instrument created and modified as necessary by reviewing and analyzing precursors to a sex offense, victim populations of a registrant or an offender, living conditions and environment of a registrant or an offender and other factors predisposing a person to become a registrant or an offender, for the ongoing purpose of identifying risk factors. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 34-A Sec. 11203
The department shall establish and apply a risk assessment instrument to each registrant under its jurisdiction for the purpose of notification to law enforcement agencies and to the public. [PL 2003, c. 711, Pt. C, §26 (AMD); PL 2003, c. 711, Pt. D, §2 (AFF).]
