As used in this chapter, unless the context indicates otherwise, the following terms have the following meanings. [PL 1987, c. 505, §2 (NEW).]
1. Bureau. “Bureau” means the Bureau of Alcoholic Beverages and Lottery Operations within the Department of Administrative and Financial Services to carry out the purposes of this chapter.

Terms Used In Maine Revised Statutes Title 8 Sec. 371

  • Agent: means a person or that person's representative who has been licensed under this chapter to sell lottery tickets on behalf of the State from the physical premises of the licensee's retail business establishment. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 8 Sec. 371
  • Bureau: means the Bureau of Alcoholic Beverages and Lottery Operations within the Department of Administrative and Financial Services to carry out the purposes of this chapter. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 8 Sec. 371
  • Commission: means the State Liquor and Lottery Commission established in Title 5, section 283?A. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 8 Sec. 371
  • Commissioner: means the Commissioner of Administrative and Financial Services. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 8 Sec. 371
  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • Director: means the Director of Alcoholic Beverages and Lottery Operations. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 8 Sec. 371
  • Fiduciary: A trustee, executor, or administrator.
  • Partnership: A voluntary contract between two or more persons to pool some or all of their assets into a business, with the agreement that there will be a proportional sharing of profits and losses.
  • Person: means an individual, association, corporation, limited liability company, limited partnership, limited liability partnership, partnership, club, trust, estate, society, company, receiver, trustee, assignee, referee or other person acting in a fiduciary or representative capacity, whether appointed by a court or otherwise, and any combination of individuals.   • Trustee: A person or institution holding and administering property in trust.
2. Commission. “Commission” means the State Liquor and Lottery Commission established in Title 5, section 283?A.

3. Commissioner. “Commissioner” means the Commissioner of Administrative and Financial Services.

4-A. Electronic funds transfer. “Electronic funds transfer” means a transaction using an electronic device for the purpose of ordering, instructing or authorizing a financial institution to debit or credit an account.

5. Person. “Person” means an individual, association, corporation, limited liability company, limited partnership, limited liability partnership, partnership, club, trust, estate, society, company, receiver, trustee, assignee, referee or other person acting in a fiduciary or representative capacity, whether appointed by a court or otherwise, and any combination of individuals. “Person” means all departments, commissions, agencies and instrumentalities of the State, including counties and municipalities and agencies and instrumentalities thereof.
