  • Damages: Money paid by defendants to successful plaintiffs in civil cases to compensate the plaintiffs for their injuries.
  • Person: includes an individual, receiver, trustee, guardian, personal representative, fiduciary, representative of any kind, corporation, partnership, business trust, statutory trust, limited liability company, firm, association, or other nongovernmental entity. See
This subtitle does not:

(1) Prohibit a person from filing an action for damages against an automotive repair facility; or

(2) Require a person first to exhaust any administrative remedy he may have.
