  • garbage disposal equipment: whenever used in this act , except when otherwise indicated by the context, shall be construed to mean all equipment or machinery of any nature whatsoever and all appurtenances thereto used or useful in treating and reducing garbage and similar waste materials prior to introduction into the sewer system of the city or village, including but not limited to garbage grinders: Provided, That when garbage grinders are installed for such disposal, the city or village shall have a sanitary sewage disposal plant into which the refuse from such garbage grinders is deposited for treatment.   • state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories belonging to the United States; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the district and territories. See Michigan Laws 8.3o
   Rates for services furnished by any garbage disposal equipment system shall be fixed by ordinance. The rates charged shall be sufficient to provide for the payment of the expenses of administration and operation and such expenses of maintenance of the system as may be necessary to preserve the same; and to provide for the payment of principal and interest of all bonds payable therefrom as and when the same become due and payable; and for the creation of any reserve therefor, as required in the ordinance; and to provide for such other expenditures and funds as the ordinance may require. Rates charged for the services furnished pursuant to this act shall not be subject to the supervision or regulation by any state bureau, board, commission or like instrumentality or agency thereof.
