Terms Used In Michigan Laws 129.277

  • Authority: means the Michigan tobacco settlement finance authority created under section 4. See Michigan Laws 129.263
  • Fiscal year: The fiscal year is the accounting period for the government. For the federal government, this begins on October 1 and ends on September 30. The fiscal year is designated by the calendar year in which it ends; for example, fiscal year 2006 begins on October 1, 2005 and ends on September 30, 2006.
  • Operating expenses: means the reasonable operating expenses of the authority, including without limitation the cost of preparation of accounting and other reports, costs of maintenance of the ratings on the bonds, insurance premiums, and costs of authority meetings or other required activities of the authority, counsel fees, including the fees of the attorney general, and fees and expenses incurred for consultants and fiduciaries and any other costs described in section 4(12).   • state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories belonging to the United States; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the district and territories. See Michigan Laws 8.3o
  (1) One million dollars is appropriated from the general fund to the authority for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2006 for all of the following purposes:
  (a) Payment of operating expenses of the authority.
  (b) Funding any reserve requirements.
  (2) Money appropriated under this section that is not expended before the end of the state fiscal year ending September 30, 2006 shall not revert to the general fund and may be retained and used by the authority for the purposes authorized by subsection (1).
