Terms Used In Michigan Laws 32.1019

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
  • Officer: means a commissioned or warrant officer. See Michigan Laws 32.1002
  • person: may extend and be applied to bodies politic and corporate, as well as to individuals. See Michigan Laws 8.3l
   A special court-martial has jurisdiction to try a person subject to this code, except an officer, for an offense for which the person may be punished under this code. A special court-martial has the same powers of punishment as a general court-martial except that the fine or forfeiture of pay and allowances imposed by a special court-martial may not be more than $100.00 for a single offense.
