Terms Used In Michigan Laws 390.1378

  • Authority: means the Michigan higher education assistance authority created by Act No. See Michigan Laws 390.1371
  • MWS: means the Michigan work-study program established in section 2. See Michigan Laws 390.1371
  • state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories belonging to the United States; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the district and territories. See Michigan Laws 8.3o
   A student who receives a state competitive scholarship award under Act No. 208 of the Public Acts of 1964, being section 390.971 to 390.981 of the Michigan Compiled Laws, or who receives other student aid, may be eligible for MWS funds under this act if the total amount of the student’s scholarships and grants is less than the student’s remaining financial need. The MWS, in combination with other student aid, shall not exceed the amount of the student’s financial need as determined by uniform criteria of need as defined by the authority.
