Terms Used In Michigan Laws 550.1951

  • state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories belonging to the United States; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the district and territories.   As used in this act, “local unit of government” means any political subdivision of this state, including, but not limited to, school districts, community and junior colleges, state universities, cities, villages, townships, charter townships, counties, charter counties, authorities created by the state, and authorities created by other local units of government.
