Terms Used In Michigan Laws 554.979

  • Common law: The legal system that originated in England and is now in use in the United States. It is based on judicial decisions rather than legislative action.
  • Order: means a consent, authorization, approval, prohibition, or requirement applicable to a specific case issued by the department. See Michigan Laws 554.907
  • Person: means an individual, partnership, corporation, association, governmental entity, or other legal entity. See Michigan Laws 554.909
  • Statute: A law passed by a legislature.
  Except as explicitly provided in this act, civil liability in favor of a private party does not arise against a person by implication from or as a result of the violation of this act or a rule promulgated or order issued under this act. This act does not limit liability that may exist under any other statute or under common law.
