Terms Used In Michigan Laws 565.531

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
   That every register of deeds who shall neglect or refuse to keep up such indexes as are required by law shall forfeit the sum of 10 dollars for each and every such neglect or refusal, which may be recovered in an action of debt before any court of competent jurisdiction.
