  • state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories belonging to the United States; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the district and territories.   • Statute: A law passed by a legislature.
   Wherever in the statute laws of this state a reference is made to several sections and the section numbers are connected by the word “to”, the reference includes both sections whose numbers are given and all intervening sections.
