  • state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories belonging to the United States; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the district and territories.    The sheriffs of the several counties of this state shall receive into their respective jails and keep all prisoners who are committed to the same, by virtue of any civil process, issued by any court of record instituted under the authority of the United States, until they are discharged by the due course of the laws of the United States, in the same manner as if such prisoner had been committed by virtue of process in civil actions issued under the authority of this state, and every such sheriff may receive to his own use such sums of money as shall be payable by the United States for the use of the jails.
