  • Garnishment: Generally, garnishment is a court proceeding in which a creditor asks a court to order a third party who owes money to the debtor or otherwise holds assets belonging to the debtor to turn over to the creditor any of the debtor
   The sheriff, or friend of the court in alimony or nonsupport cases, shall collect the wages or salary of an employed prisoner, or require him to turn over his wages or salary in full when received. The officer shall deposit the same in a trust checking account and keep a ledger showing the status of the account of each prisoner. The wages or salary are not subject to garnishment in the hands of the employer or the officer during the prisoner’s term.
