Terms Used In Michigan Laws > Chapter 798 > Act 287 of 1988 - Special Alternative Incarceration Act

  • Department: means the department of corrections. See Michigan Laws 798.12
  • person: may extend and be applied to bodies politic and corporate, as well as to individuals. See Michigan Laws 8.3l
  • Prisoner: means a person serving a term of incarceration under the jurisdiction of the department. See Michigan Laws 798.12
  • Probation: A sentencing alternative to imprisonment in which the court releases convicted defendants under supervision as long as certain conditions are observed.
  • Probationer: means a person placed on probation pursuant to chapter XI of the code of criminal procedure, Act No. See Michigan Laws 798.12
  • Unit: means a special alternative incarceration unit. See Michigan Laws 798.12
