Terms Used In Missouri Laws 115.045
- Electronic voting system: a system of casting votes by use of marking devices, and counting votes by use of automatic air-gapped tabulating or air-gapped data processing equipment, including computerized voting systems that mark or tabulate ballots. See Missouri Laws 115.013
- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
- Oath: A promise to tell the truth.
- voter: is used in the laws of this state it shall mean registered voter, or legal voter. See Missouri Laws 1.035
Each election authority shall have the authority to employ such attorneys and other employees as may be necessary to promptly and correctly perform the duties of the election authority. Where an electronic voting system or voting machines are used, the election authority shall designate competent employees to have custody of and supervise maintenance of the voting equipment. Board of election commissioners’ employees shall be subject to the same restrictions and subscribe the same oath as members of the board of election commissioners, except that no employee of a board of election commissioners shall be required to post bond or reside and be a registered voter within the jurisdiction of the election authority unless directed to do so by the board. Employee oaths and any bonds shall be filed and preserved in the office of the board.
