1. The court may require a parent or guardian of a child to participate in any activity the court finds is necessary to carry out the purposes of the juvenile code as stated in section 211.011, including, but not limited to:

(1) Requiring the parent or guardian to attend counseling sessions; and

Terms Used In Missouri Laws 211.134

  • Child: means any person under eighteen years of age. See Missouri Laws 211.021
  • Guardian: A person legally empowered and charged with the duty of taking care of and managing the property of another person who because of age, intellect, or health, is incapable of managing his (her) own affairs.
  • Guardian: if used in a section in a context relating to property rights or obligations, means conservator of the estate as defined in chapter 475. See Missouri Laws 1.020
  • parent: means the mother. See Missouri Laws 211.021

(2) Requiring the parent or guardian to participate in any institutional treatment program, including attendance at the institution where the child resides.

2. The court may order the parent or guardian to support the child committed for institutionalization by paying the reasonable costs of support, maintenance and treatment of the child that the parent is financially able to pay.
