Terms Used In Missouri Laws 293.250

  • Coal mine: any strip mine or underground excavation from which coal or lignite is extracted for commercial purposes and including the mining plant and all parts of the property of such mine, on the surface or underground. See Missouri Laws 293.010
  • Conviction: A judgement of guilt against a criminal defendant.
  • Operator: the person, firm, or body corporate who or which is the immediate proprietor, as owner or lessee, of the mine and, as such, responsible for the condition and management thereof. See Missouri Laws 293.010
  • State: when applied to any of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories, and the words "United States" includes such district and territories. See Missouri Laws 1.020

Every owner, agent or operator of any coal mine in this state, employing five or more persons, violating any of the provisions of sections 293.210 to 293.240, shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and on conviction shall be fined for each offense not less than fifty nor more than two hundred dollars, or by imprisonment in the county jail not less than three nor more than twelve months, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
