- State: when applied to any of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories, and the words "United States" includes such district and territories. See Missouri Laws 1.020
A certificate attached to a copy of a document filed by the secretary of state, bearing his signature, which may be in facsimile, and the seal of this state, is prima facie evidence that the original document is on file with the secretary of state.
