Terms Used In Missouri Laws 382.090

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
  • person: may extend and be applied to bodies politic and corporate, and to partnerships and other unincorporated associations. See Missouri Laws 1.020
  • State: when applied to any of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories, and the words "United States" includes such district and territories. See Missouri Laws 1.020

The courts of this state are hereby vested with jurisdiction over every person not resident, domiciled, or authorized to do business in this state who files a statement with the director under sections 382.010 to 382.300, and over all actions involving such person arising out of violations of sections 382.010 to 382.300, and each such person shall be deemed to have performed acts equivalent to and constituting an appointment by him of the director to be his true and lawful attorney upon whom may be served all lawful process in any action, suit or proceeding arising out of violations of sections 382.010 to 382.300. Copies of all such lawful process shall be served on the director and transmitted by registered or certified mail by the director to such person at his last known address.
