  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • Damages: Money paid by defendants to successful plaintiffs in civil cases to compensate the plaintiffs for their injuries.
  • Evidence: Information presented in testimony or in documents that is used to persuade the fact finder (judge or jury) to decide the case for one side or the other.
  • Property: includes real and personal property. See Missouri Laws 1.020
  • State: when applied to any of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories, and the words "United States" includes such district and territories. See Missouri Laws 1.020

The division may investigate the cause of all accidents on any railroad or street railroad within this state which result in loss of life or injury to persons or property. Every railroad corporation and street railroad corporation is hereby required to give immediate notice to the division of every accident happening upon any line of railroad or street railroad owned, operated, controlled or leased by it, within this state in such manner as the division may direct. Such notice shall not be admitted as evidence or used for any purpose against such railroad corporation or street railroad corporation giving such notice in any suit or action for damages growing out of any matter mentioned in such notice.
