- Continuance: Putting off of a hearing ot trial until a later time.
- Defendant: In a civil suit, the person complained against; in a criminal case, the person accused of the crime.
The court in which such action is pending shall grant such continuance to a nonresident defendant as may be proper to afford him reasonable opportunity to defend such action.
