  • following: when used by way of reference to any section of the statutes, mean the section next preceding or next following that in which the reference is made, unless some other section is expressly designated in the reference. See Missouri Laws 1.020
  • Oath: A promise to tell the truth.
  • State: when applied to any of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories, and the words "United States" includes such district and territories. See Missouri Laws 1.020

On the Tuesday next following the first Monday in November, A.D. 1902, and every four years thereafter, there shall be elected in said cities, in the manner provided by law for the election of city officers, a license collector, who shall hold his office for the term of four years, and until his successor is elected and qualified; he shall take the oath of office required of state officers, and give bond to such city in the sum of twenty-five thousand dollars, conditioned that he will faithfully and punctually collect and pay over all revenue for licenses and license tax collected and received by him, and in all things faithfully perform the duties of the office of license collector according to law and the ordinances of said city, to be approved by the mayor; and said oath and bond to be filed in the office of the city register of such city. Vacancies in said office of license collector from any cause shall be filled by the governor, from and until the end and expiration of the term in which the vacancy is created. Said license collector shall have his office in the city hall in such rooms as may be designated for the purpose by the proper authority.
