  • Fiscal year: The fiscal year is the accounting period for the government. For the federal government, this begins on October 1 and ends on September 30. The fiscal year is designated by the calendar year in which it ends; for example, fiscal year 2006 begins on October 1, 2005 and ends on September 30, 2006.
At least 30 days prior to the annual public hearing on the municipality’s budget, an authority shall file with the clerk a financial report for the authority’s last fiscal year, provided that such fiscal year shall end at least 90 days prior to the public hearing. Such report shall contain an estimate of the payment to be made by the municipality for the ensuing year.
