  • Damages: Money paid by defendants to successful plaintiffs in civil cases to compensate the plaintiffs for their injuries.
  • state: when applied to different parts of the United States, may extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories, so called; and the words "United States" shall include said district and territories. See New Hampshire Revised Statutes 21:4
The department of transportation shall file its report in the office of the secretary of state, and shall certify the damages awarded to landowners in each town to the town clerk of such town, within 10 days after making the award; and the clerk shall note upon such certificate the date of its receipt, and keep it on file.
