  • Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
No group accident or health insurance contract, authorized under this chapter, may be cancelled or nonrenewed by the health service corporation, except for nonpayment of premium, unless the group contract holder receives either a notice of cancellation or nonrenewal or an offer of renewal in accordance with this section. The notice of cancellation or nonrenewal or offer of renewal shall be delivered to the group contract holder or mailed to the group contract holder’s last address as shown in the records of the health service corporation at least 45 days prior to the renewal date of the contract. Notice of cancellation for lack of participation, if permitted by the terms of the contract, shall be delivered to the group contract holder or mailed to the group contract holder’s last address as shown in the records of the health service corporation, at least 30 days prior to the effective date of the cancellation.
