  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
Scire facias may be issued in the superior court, upon judgments and other proceedings in municipal courts, when the amount of the judgment or other demand claimed, including costs and interests, exceeds the jurisdiction of said municipal court, upon attested copies of such judgments or other proceedings being filed in the superior court.
