- Clerk of court: An officer appointed by the court to work with the chief judge in overseeing the court's administration, especially to assist in managing the flow of cases through the court and to maintain court records.
A clerk of court may appoint one or more deputies with the approval of the superior court to perform the duties of his office while the clerk is absent or unable from any cause to act. The deputies so appointed shall hold office during the incumbency or pleasure of the clerk.
