Terms Used In New Hampshire Revised Statutes 543:5

  • Defendant: In a civil suit, the person complained against; in a criminal case, the person accused of the crime.
  • Lien: A claim against real or personal property in satisfaction of a debt.
  • person: may extend and be applied to bodies corporate and politic as well as to individuals. See New Hampshire Revised Statutes 21:9
The amount of the lien, if any, of the original defendant shall be determined by the court, and shall be paid by the person in whose favor judgment is rendered, before final judgment shall be entered.
