Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 12:9-3

  • person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. If upon application of the person having charge of any vessel employed in coasting trade within the United States and entering the bay of New York or the North river within the limits of Hudson county, the harbor masters, or either of them, shall adjust any difference respecting the situation or position of such vessel, they may demand from the party in default in the premises the sum of two dollars, excepting canal barges and boats, when the fee shall be one dollar, to be sued for and recovered in the names and for the use of the harbor masters.
