Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 17:14A-73

  • Appeal: A request made after a trial, asking another court (usually the court of appeals) to decide whether the trial was conducted properly. To make such a request is "to appeal" or "to take an appeal." One who appeals is called the appellant.
  • Appellate: About appeals; an appellate court has the power to review the judgement of another lower court or tribunal.
An order of the commissioner made pursuant to R.S. 17:14A-72 shall be subject to review by appeal to the Appellate Division of the Superior Court. The institution of proceedings for review shall suspend the accrual of the penalties provided for by R.S. 17:14A-74 until the final determination of the proceedings.
