  • person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. 13. a. A carrier shall provide a written notice, in a form and manner to be prescribed by the Commissioner of Banking and Insurance, to each covered person of the protections provided to covered persons pursuant to this act. The notice shall include information on how a consumer can contact the department or the appropriate regulatory agency to report and dispute an out-of-network charge. The notice required pursuant to this section shall be posted on the carrier’s website.

b. The commissioner shall provide a notice on the department’s website containing information for consumers relating to the protections provided by this act, information on how consumers can report and file complaints with the department or the appropriate regulatory agency relating to any out-of-network charges, and information and guidance for consumers regarding arbitrations filed pursuant to section 11 of this act.
