Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 2A:14-26.2

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
  • Statute of limitations: A law that sets the time within which parties must take action to enforce their rights.
2. The provisions of this act shall be inapplicable to any civil action governed by the statute of limitations of another jurisdiction.
