Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 38:23B-20

  • Conviction: A judgement of guilt against a criminal defendant.
  • person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. Any person who, having obtained a veteran’s loan under this act, solicits, applies for, or accepts another such loan, except as specifically authorized in this act, and any person who knowingly and willfully furnishes any false or misleading information for the purpose of obtaining a veteran’s loan, or of enabling another to obtain a veteran’s loan, under this act, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof, be punished by a fine of not more than one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) or by imprisonment for not more than three years, or both.
