Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 38A:14-7

  • Arrest: Taking physical custody of a person by lawful authority.
  • Continuance: Putting off of a hearing ot trial until a later time.
  • person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. The commanding officer upon any occasion of duty may place in arrest during the continuance thereof, any person who shall trespass upon a camp or parade ground, armory, arsenal, rifle range, or any other place devoted to or used for military purposes or shall in any manner interrupt or molest or disturb the orderly discharge of duty by those under arms, or shall disturb or prevent the passage of troops going to or returning from any duty.
