Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 3B:28-12

  • Dower: A widow
  • Estate: means all of the property of a decedent, minor or incapacitated individual, trust or other person whose affairs are subject to this title as the property is originally constituted and as it exists from time to time during administration. See New Jersey Statutes 3B:1-1
N.J.S. 3A:36-4 is saved from repeal. Under this section, if real estate, subject to an inchoate right of dower or curtesy, is sold by a sheriff or other public officer, the purchaser may apply to have dower or curtesy admeasured.
