Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 43:10-14

  • Attachment: A procedure by which a person's property is seized to pay judgments levied by the court.
  • Garnishment: Generally, garnishment is a court proceeding in which a creditor asks a court to order a third party who owes money to the debtor or otherwise holds assets belonging to the debtor to turn over to the creditor any of the debtor
  • State: extends to and includes any State, territory or possession of the United States, the District of Columbia and the Canal Zone. See New Jersey Statutes 1:1-2
All pensions granted under this article shall be exempt from any state or municipal tax, levy and sale, garnishment or attachment, or any other process and shall be unassignable.
