Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 43:10-74

  • person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State.   • State: extends to and includes any State, territory or possession of the United States, the District of Columbia and the Canal Zone. See New Jersey Statutes 1:1-2
In any first class county of this state any person who shall now or hereafter have served as sergeant at arms or court crier for a period of twenty years and shall have reached the age of sixty years, shall, upon application in writing to the board of chosen freeholders of the county, be retired on half pay. In the computation of period of service under this article any sergeant at arms or court crier who shall have heretofore or hereafter served as court attendant prior to his promotion or appointment as sergeant at arms or court crier shall be given credit for his years of service as such court attendant.
