Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 43:6A-47
- Beneficiary: A person who is entitled to receive the benefits or proceeds of a will, trust, insurance policy, retirement plan, annuity, or other contract. Source: OCC
- person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. a. Any person who has retired on or before the effective date of this amendatory and supplementary act and is receiving or is entitled to receive a pension and benefits from the retirement system, shall continue to receive the same pension and benefits or shall continue to be entitled to receive the same pension and benefits.
b. Any beneficiary who is receiving a survivor’s benefit or is eligible to receive a survivor’s benefit as provided by the retirement system on or before the effective date of this amendatory and supplementary act, shall continue to receive or be eligible to receive the survivor’s benefit.
c. No person who is a member of the retirement system on the effective date of this amendatory and supplementary act shall be required to make contributions for service for which he has received credit as a judge in any of the several courts or in office, position or employment of this State or of a county, municipality, board of education or public agency of this State; provided, however, that the person shall make contributions as may be required pursuant to section 26b. of this amendatory and supplementary act.
