§ 9-0807. Committees.

  • Amendment: A proposal to alter the text of a pending bill or other measure by striking out some of it, by inserting new language, or both. Before an amendment becomes part of the measure, thelegislature must agree to it.
  • Committee membership: Legislators are assigned to specific committees by their party. Seniority, regional balance, and political philosophy are the most prominent factors in the committee assignment process.

The commissioner shall appoint an advisory committee and a technical review committee to assist directly in carrying out the provisions of this act by promoting a constructive interchange among agencies and organizations interested in planning for the use, management and protection of public and private forest resources and to enhance the prospect of common acceptance of plan recommendations.

1. The advisory committee membership shall be representative of forest resources related agencies and organizations in this state. The committee shall provide interdisciplinary review and analysis of policy development throughout the planning process. The committee shall meet at least annually and shall file a written annual report to the department and the legislature which report shall include a statement of progress made toward attaining the goals and objectives stated in the forest resource plan, recommendations for amendment of the plan and any other matter the committee deems necessary to be included. The members of the advisory committee shall not receive any remuneration except that the department may reimburse members thereof for reasonable expenses incurred in attending meetings.

2. The technical review committee membership shall be representative of the full range of expertise in use, management and protection of forest resources. The committee will provide scientific and technical review and analysis in development of the forest resources assessment. The members of the technical review committee shall not receive any remuneration except that the department may reimburse members thereof for reasonable expenses incurred in attending meetings.
