(a)        All salaries, compensation, and expenses incurred or allowed for the purposes of carrying out this Article shall be paid by the Board exclusively out of the fees received by the Board as authorized by this Article, or funds received from other sources. In no case shall any salary, expense, or other obligation of the Board be charged against the treasury of the State of North Carolina. All moneys and receipts shall be kept in a special fund by and for the use of the Board for the exclusive purpose of carrying out the provisions of this Article.

Reasonable charge for duplication services and materials.

A fee for an item listed in this schedule shall not increase from one year to the next by more than twenty percent (20%).

(c)        No refund of fees will be made.

(d)       The Board may assess costs of disciplinary action against a nurse found in violation of the North Carolina Nursing Practice Act. Terms Used In North Carolina General Statutes 90-171.27

  • Board: means the North Carolina Board of Nursing. See North Carolina General Statutes 90-171.20
  • following: when used by way of reference to any section of a statute, shall be construed to mean the section next preceding or next following that in which such reference is made; unless when some other section is expressly designated in such reference. See North Carolina General Statutes 12-3
  • License: means a permit issued by the Board to practice nursing as a registered nurse or as a licensed practical nurse, including a renewal thereof. See North Carolina General Statutes 90-171.20
  • Nursing: is a dynamic discipline which includes the assessing, caring, counseling, teaching, referring and implementing of prescribed treatment in the maintenance of health, prevention and management of illness, injury, disability or the achievement of a dignified death. See North Carolina General Statutes 90-171.20
  • Obligation: An order placed, contract awarded, service received, or similar transaction during a given period that will require payments during the same or a future period.
  • state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories, so called; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the said district and territories and all dependencies.
