(A) Pleadings or documents may be filed with the clerk of court either in paper format or in electronic format. Pleadings and documents filed in paper format may be converted to an electronic format. Documents created by the clerk of court in the exercise of the clerk’s duties may be created in an electronic format.

- Clerk of court: An officer appointed by the court to work with the chief judge in overseeing the court's administration, especially to assist in managing the flow of cases through the court and to maintain court records.
- Pleadings: Written statements of the parties in a civil case of their positions. In the federal courts, the principal pleadings are the complaint and the answer.
(B) When pleadings or documents are received or created in, or converted to, an electronic format as provided in division (A) of this section, the pleadings or documents in that format shall be considered the official version of the record.
